The Wishing Book

The Wishing Book
By Erin LeCount

Introduction

Lottie Badminton hopped into bed, “Can I read to myself tonight Mummy?” Lottie asked gathering all her library books from the bottom of her bed. “Of course. But honey listen, there dew tomorrow! Everybody's too busy to take you to the library! But it's not far from here so you can walk there on your own! Maybe have a look around the shops, OK?” Mum explained happily.
Lottie read and read and read until the clock struck twelve! She yawned sleepily, she'd read all the books! She rested her head down,
but no body realised she was still clutching one book
The Wishing Book
The one you're reading now!

Chapter 1
Astonishment

Lottie skipped down to the library and next to it it had a tiny shop and it said The Wishing Book. Lottie skipped into the library, “Hello Lottie” a girl waved miserably, her name was Honeysuckle because her hair was the colour of it! Everyone called her Honey!
“What's wrong?” Lottie asked curiously, “I broke my arm and no-one can afford a sling, everyone's teasing and bullying me because I'm going round with my arm in a sling shape! I got hit by a car on the road because it couldn't break.....” Honey sobbed.
Lottie walked out of library sadly, she felt sorry for Honey. She bravely went to look inside The Wishing Book but on the door was a funny poem!

We can get you anything here
We can make a coin come out of your ear
Dad can wish for a very big beer
The smear goes away
We'll make it another day
For your fishing rod
we'll get you a hook that's whey we're
THE WISHING
BOOK

“Oh, oh my! It must be a joke!” Lottie told herself sensibly. When Lottie walked inside there was nothing in there! “Hello!” Lottie called. An old lady popped up from behind the counter “Hello dear, what did you want?” She smiled kindly “Erm........a sling” Lottie worried “Ok, Dear Wishing Book, a sling please!” She grinned. Then in Lottie's hands appeared a sling, coloured pens and a little badge to pin on it!

“Amazing! I bet everyone comes here!” Lottie gasped hugging the lady “Oh no, dear Everybody thinks I've got an empty store!” The lady sighed “But....but we must get you back in business and money for your family! Guess what? I know how!!!” Lottie winked.

Chapter 2
Giving for Goodness

Lottie ran to Honey's house, “Hello Miss Hive! I got a sling and some things for Honeysuckle!” She politely curtseyed. “Oh LOTTIE!” Yelled Honey thankfully. “Come in dear!” Mrs H smiled.

“Oh well! What time is it?” Honey's Mum asked “Oh my word! It's 9.pm!” Gasped Honeysuckle.

“Lottie! Thank you so much for the sling! I think it's too dark to get home, sweetie! I'll ring your Mum to tell her you're OK and you're welcome to stay here for the night!” Mrs H blabbered kindly.

“Zzzzzzzzzzzz.........................Zzzzzzzzzzzz” Snored Lottie sleepily. Honeysuckle was an early riser and Lottie was a lazy head. Lottie was worried about it! She was not pleased to be woken at 6.am. “WAKE UP LAZY! IT'S 6 ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Laughed Honey madly.

“Hello! Lottie it's time to go!” Mum frowned firmly. “Bye!” Lottie waved opening her car window. “Thanks for everything!” Added Honeysuckle.

Chapter 3
This means everything

Lottie went to the market with leaflets her Famous Granny Isabella had made the other day on the computer. Everything was fine for Lottie to give away free leaflets!

Lottie talked through the loudspeakers “Hello, my name's Lottie B! Come and get some leaflets!

People crowded round Lottie and snatched leaflets but they all ended up on the floor or in the bin! Some people were kind and helpful and took the leaflets. She fell on the floor and drifted off to sleep.
“Lottie? Lottie!” A voice gulped “Help, Lottie!!”

“Lottie hurry! The Wishing Book shop is on fire and the lady's still in there locked in with no keys!” The person worried, it wasn't 1 person they were twins! Tilly and Thomas!

Lottie raced home yelling “MUM DAD! SAVE THE SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” “Lottie?” Mum asked.

They raced to The Wishing Book. Flames singed people's eye's and Lottie's Mum and Dad were really rich! Though Lottie knew being rich wouldn't always help!

Lottie covered her eyes and the Fire brigade weren't there yet, they were coming from Braintree! Lottie thought of how nice the lady was, it wasn't time for her to die now!

Chapter 4
Risking Her Life

Lottie smashed open the window's and jumping into the burning flames of death. She grabbed the lady's hand, “Lottie! NO!!!!” Everyone cried. There was no reply, Lottie could have died. “I'll remember you Lottie” Honey promised. “I love you” Lottie's Mum whispered. The Fire Brigade came and got the people out Lottie was still holding the lady's hand. She woke up in hospital.

Lottie knew that she'd be home soon. Next thing she was at home in bed with the lady from The Wishing Book “I'm so proud of you” She whispered.

“OH MY WORD! This is on live TV!” Lottie gasped.

Auntie Alice rushed on the live TV “Quick! Mrs Hive's having a baby at her house!” She panicked franticly. Lottie eagerly ran down the streets to Honey's house. She knew that her Mum had serious illness and meant she couldn't do anything!

She needed to help her friend before it was too late, before the baby got poisoned, before her Mum is near to death.....................................

Chapter 5
It Can't be Over

Lottie knocked on the door, Honey was in fits of crying. “Honey!” Yelled Lottie tossing her arms round her best friend. Mrs Hive was on the floor and there was no sign of the baby! A tear rolled down Lottie's face.

Long ago Lottie had been told wise words from her Granny Sarah “Love makes a difference, Love make's lives” Lottie had already done that with The Wishing Book, it was time to do it now.................

Lottie got Honeysuckle “Honey! Honey! You can help your Mum, love her and her baby as much as you can and promise never to do a naughty thing!”

Honey looked unsure but even if it didn't work, it was true love, will make a difference sometimes.

Honey obeyed Lottie and tried, people eagerly wanted to help the girl, but no, there was one love and that's it!

They sat there for hours, waiting and waiting for Mrs Hive to wake up.

Honey knelt beside them waiting for them to get up, but no, Honey did not leave her side. The clock ticked rapidly.

Time was running out............................................................
